Spin in 16 different ways in a mobile video slot safari that’s more than a little unusual.
The Big Game mobile slot is the first generation of Spin16 games created by Genii, and came out in May 2015 along with it’s brothers Age of Spartans and Horn of Plenty.
And whilst they are all pretty much the same in terms of gameplay, the Big Game slot hides the biggest payout of the lot – 45,000 coins. Otherwise calculated as… 100 times your bet.
Not impressed? Yeah, neither were we all that much. But, then we got playing.
The whole gimmick of this Spin16 slot is that you can spin the reels in 16 different direction.
Depending on which reel you pick, the ‘house’ (or the green arrow), will also pick one of the reels.
If it lands on the reel you picked, you get a 10x multiplier. If it lands next to it, a 3x or 2x multiplier, depending.
At first it seemed like a fairly complicated concept, but once you get use to it, you’ll realise it’s exactly the opposite – ridiculously simple.
All you do is pick a reel and hope the green arrow land on it. If it doesn’t the win you do get will be minimal anyway, and not worth mentioning.
If it does you can get the occasional thrill as you catch some of the higher multipliers.
This is the really smart bit of the Big Game slot machine.
If you want the more ‘traditional’ spin button you can choose to either spin hot or cold – so the direction which is currently the coldest or hottest based on live results from other players online at the time.
It doesn’t feel as much fun as choosing your own reel, especially as with the swipe motion this was created for mobile casinos in mind, but gives added depth to a simple video slot.
It’s not that we think the Spin16 function is a gimmick, but actually the slot itself lacks the kind of action that brings the kind of big win thrills.
And it’s made all the more annoying when the green arrow lands on your pick and there’s no win to take advantage of that 10x multiplier.
It’s a good start Genii, and different and amusing enough to keep you occupied for a little while, but once you realise that this Big Game slot game has no claws, you start to long for the sharper graphics of the like of Mega Moolah, or the constant lively action of NetEnt’s Stickers.

Wilds: The lion is wild and substitutes for all symbols. It also comes with a 2x multiplier, which can be accumulated with the Spin16 game multipliers.
Scatter: The happy elephant is the scatter and does what scatters do. No, not free spins, but pay regardless of whether it falls within the 30 paylines.
Multiplier Spin16 Match Game: Spin one of the reels and you'll see a yellow arrow pointing in the direction you've chosen. Once they have settled, a green arrow will spin.
Depending on where the green arrow lands, and if you got a win on the 30 paylines, you'll get the following multipliers:
We usually pick left or right reels to get the higher multipliers, but it's a bit riskier.
Spin Hot / Cold: These are buttons on the side of the reels which decide for you which of the 16 reels to spin.
Spin hot by picking positions that the green arrow has statistically fallen on more often across all game play online.
Spin cold by picking positions that the green arrow has statistically not fallen on recently, across all game play online.
We could have gotten onboard with the 'spin in 16 different directions' if we felt that we could win a substantial amount through those multipliers.
But, at best you'll need to line up a 5 wilds on a 10 multiplier to get anywhere near some decent winnings.
Still the Big Game mobile slot is not without some merit. It's perfect for windows, apple and android phones, and generally keeps your wallet fairly steady, especially if you use the hot and cold buttons.
It's no Royal Masquerade slot by Play'n GO, but it's still very playable.
