What is this mobile slot about?

Halloween Horrors mobile slot is horrifying all right. But not in the way you wish it could be.

It’s always hard to give a slot game a 1 star review. After all, just because we didn’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s cup of tea. Which is why we like the 2 star quality which says ‘we weren’t fond of it, but it’s still playable if you don’t want to not listen to us and give it a go’.

We really struggled with Halloween Horrors slot game, but finally decided in our hearts we truly didn’t think it deserve the extra star. However, our head and conscience kicked us and reminded us of these very good points so if you want to try it, there are some redeemable qualities.

Why it’s not as bad as all that

For one, by the end of our game session we were up in cash. Now that doesn’t mean we should give it a good review, as it’s down to the luck on the day, but we cannot deny that this low volatility slot is happy to pay out. In fact, every other spin seems to be a win. Not much of a win, we grant you, but a win none the less.

This is added by the fact the free spins come often, though not always with great results. An average here is about 5x your bet, wih 20x your bet being a particularly spectacular round.

Still, considering that you can’t seem to go through 20 spins without hitting the Halloween Horrors bonus game feature at least once, and that it comes with an extra scatter symbol which can help get a few higher wins, it does top up your budget enough to allow you to play for a fairly long while.

Also, we should point out that as an Android phone slot or iPhone slot it works far better – the simple and clean design is clearly far more suited to the smaller screen where the uncluttered flat symbols are appreciated, where as on tablet it can come across as not making much of an effort.

But basically not all that exciting

In the end though, all those little wins brought little thrills, with never feeling like there was much of a jackpot to be won here. A top five symbol win is about 30x your bet for example.

Also, after a while, little details started getting on our nerves, though that may have been simply because we were getting frustrated by how bored we were getting.

Like, for example, the annoying noise it makes after a win, which doesn’t stop until you play a new spin. It’s like a car alarm which, if you get distracted talking to someone or quickly doing another task, grates at your soul.

Or that you get SKULL SCATTERS!!! and FREE SPINS!!! flashing in front of your screen every time those free spins hits often. Putting so many exclamation marks is a pure sign of desperation as this Halloween Horrors slot machine tries to show that there’s some thrills to be made, but it’s really just trying too hard.

In the end, there are so many better varieties of low variance slots to enjoy, from Potion Commotion to Play’n Go Enchanted  Crystals, that it feels like a waste spending your time on this one.

In-game bonus features

Wilds: The Pumpkin symbol is wild and replaces all other symbols except scatter.

Skull Scatter & Free Spins: 3 or more anywhere on the screen triggers the free spins bonus round. Get three skulls and you'll win 5 free spins, 4 will get you 10 free spins and 5 the top amount of 15 free spins.

At five you'll also get 400x your stake which we calculated to be the highest amount you can win.

Yet, despite this and the 2x multiplier you get during the free spin round, the wins here are mostly unimpressive. But at least you get them fairly often, though you cannot re-trigger the free spins within the bonus round. Also you get an extra scatter symbol.

Headstone Scatter: This is an extra scatter symbol that you only find during the free spin round. Two gets you 7x your stake, 3 pays 30x, 4 pays 100x and 5 pays 200x. So not as much as the normal scatter, but still a nice little bonus.

Closing thoughts

We hate giving games 1 star reviews, but we got bored so quickly playing Halloween Horrors mobile slot that we couldn't let you go ahead and try it without good solid warning.

It has some redeemable qualities, and for a quick 5 minute spin it could entertain enough when on your mobile phone, but honestly, we doubt we will be coming back to play this mobile game.

If you want a safe game to play with a slightly darker theme, try NetEnt's Frankenstein or Play'n Go Wild Blood for some entertaining spins.
