This Roaming Reels mobile slot is all about the stacked wilds as you chase the big wins in the African planes.
Why is this Ainsworth slot called ‘Roaming Reels’, when it’s all about Africa, has no roaming symbols, and the focus is on stacked wilds?
Maybe because the lion… roams?… this African themed game as a stacked wild? The name was badly chosen, but you don’t play on mobile slots for the names.
Instead what you have here is a fairly traditional slot game that you might find at any casino anywhere; with generic sounds and Ace to 9 symbols, and some pretty wild animals completing an overly conventional theme.
The nice thing about traditional games like the Roaming Reels slot machine is that it holds traditional wins; we are talking Vegas style big wins.
It’s helped by the fact that during the base game you get stacked wilds on reels 3, 4, and 5. Meaning you really need reel 1 and 2 to line up for the big wins to occur.
Still, when you see those lions line up, you can’t help but have a glorious moment where you try and work if any of the 100 paylines will pay out.
The downside to this is that the starting bet can be a little high for some; 1.00 a spin isn’t a deal breaker for many, but more conservative players might want to try Safari Heat slot for something a little friendlier.
As with more old fashioned video slots, the big wins come during the free spins – which actually come surprisingly often; usually less than 100 base game spins.
The reason these are interesting is because the stacked wilds now show up on reels 1, 3 and 5. You don’t have to be a big game hunter to know this improves your odds of making a killing, especially over 100 paylines.
Personally, we didn’t find this as pretty as Microgaming Lion’s Pride game, but the Roaming Reels slot game has got bigger wins and, if you put your own music in the background, will pass away a few fun minutes.

Stacked Wilds: The Lion is the wild symbol and comes stacked on reels 3, 4 and 5 during the base game.
Scatters and Free Spins: Get 3, 4, or 5 'tree' scatter symbols anywhere on the reels and you'll trigger 8, 12 or 20 free spins.
Mostly you'll catch 8, with the occasional re-trigger, sometimes 12, very, very rarely 20.
The good news is that the stacked wilds now come on reels 1, 3 and 5, making it easier to create 5 of a kind wins. Plus, it might be just us, but it feels like at least 1 normal symbols also come stacked, for easier wins.
Fans of more graphical games will no doubt be disappointed with this Roaming Reels mobile slot. The sounds are nothing to shout about, and the graphics are fairly standard.
However, when you start playing, it's hard not to fall in love with the stacked wilds which give you the occasional heart attack moment during the base game, and are usually very rewarding during the free spins.
Not a bad high risk game by Ainsworth, though we'd still be tempted by the more colourful Play'n GO Super Safari if Roaming Reels ends being a little too wild for our liking.
