How to play South Park Reel Chaos mobile slot

NOTE: South Park Reel Chaos has been decommissioned. However, NetEnt relaunched this game with a whole new theme with Arcane Reel Chaos slot.

The boys are back! South Park 2 mobile slot is here and it has plenty of chaos to offer for players who love entertainment over risk.

South Park Reel Chaos mobile slot is the follow up game of the incredibly successful South Park slot released in 2013. We will be honest straight away; the graphics are better than in the original, but it’s not half as much fun.

But don’t stop reading just yet. We rated the original very highly – so high in fact, that trying to hit perfection again was going to be next to impossible. It’s also a mid-variance slot machine, which South Park Reel Chaos slot game is not. This is a horse of a different colour, and not just in theme, but because it’s far nicer to your wallet.

Before we begin, we should point out that this mobile slot machine works as beautifully as an Android slot as it does on iOS devices. And though you can play it in portrait mode, you really do need the whole landscape to appreciate all the chaos on the reels.

So let’s head down to South Park (again) and meet some new friends of mine (ours).

South Park Reel Chaos slot looks and plays beautifully

Rumour is, the South Park studio is heavily involved in the graphics of the game, leading to an authentic look and feel that fans of the show will certainly appreciate. But it doesn’t have the nostalgia feeling as the first slot, which had the well-known gags and jokes. In fact, Reel Chaos has very few really funny jokes, preferring instead to bring a storyline of two factions of 9-year-old boys fighting a super-heroic war.

It means that fans of the crude, rude, humour will be disappointed, whilst people who aren’t into dancing poop and fart jokes (or even the show) will be able to throw themselves in, without needing to fear the need to be familiar with it all.

Personally, we missed that ‘die hippy!’ playfulness, but we can see why NetEntertainment designers would want to do something a little different. No one wants the same slot twice.

Not as chaotic as the original, but just as many features

Ironically, considering this is the “South Park Reel Chaos video slot”, it’s not half as chaotic as the first slot machine. Which fits the kind of player this is for; the one who wants to be able to play for ages, without it eating too much of your cash away.

The full list of features is below this review. So we won’t be going too much into each. Needless to say, the free spin rounds come often, and a big win is around 50x your bet. If you manage to beat the boss to the end you might even expect something like 100x your bet. Sure, more is possible, but realistically, expect that much in the top end.

However, as it hits often, you can just as easily win 20x your bet, but don’t be too disappointed; you’ll get the feature again in less than 50 spins.

Randomly triggered everything…

The rest of the features are all randomly triggered and give you extra wilds and multipliers. So randomly triggered are they that it’s hard to get super excited about them. With the original at least you knew which of the randomly triggered features would get you something big, but with this South Park 2 slot, each feature is more clearly set to help you top up, rather than create that big win thrill.

That’s part of the problem of why this mobile game only gets the four rather than five stars. Without the features, getting any decent win here is next to impossible. It means that before every spin if you don’t see anything much happening on screen, you know it’s going to be a bust. It kinda kills that ‘oooh what’s going to happen’ thrill, because… you can tell. No special feature = no decent wins.

That said, they do show up fairly often and all you need is to get a wall of Cartman stacked wilds, or get close to hitting that 10x multiplier in the Stan re-spin, and you’ll soon hear your heart tick to the South Park Reel Chaos beat.

All in all, another good mobile slot machine to add to the NetEnt Touch collection.

Bonus Features

Wilds: The lightbulb with iPods (we think?) is the wild symbol and replaces all the other symbols except bonus. It speaks a lot about the quality of the graphics that it wasn't until we started writing this South Park two slot review that we realised we had no idea what this symbol is meant to represent. Something "South Parky", but it has wild on it, so you'll recognise it.

Cartman's Stacked Wilds: Randomly triggered during any spin in the base game, the little nerdy kid with glasses (here called General Disarray) will run across the screen, with Cartman chasing after him. Every reel he climbs, Cartman will turn fully wild. We've had some good wins on this one, but the most likely to also get you nothing at all.

Kenny's Multiplier: It's Kenny VS Professor Chaos! Again, randomly triggered at any point, you'll get two characters pitifully fighting in the middle of the screen as you get a wheel of fortune granting you multipliers for any winnings on that spin. Though you can get up to x5, you usually end up with about a x3 multiplier. Still not bad if you hit a good set of symbols.

Stan's Multiplier Re-spins: We get most excited about this feature than we do the free spin bonus, probably because you can get much bigger payoff here. That's because this is like a mini-free spin round. At any point you might get Stan showing up giving you free re-spins until you hit a win.

Not a bad feature in itself, but it's made hugely more interesting by the fact that a multiplier meter increases on every non-win. It's one of the few occasions where you are hoping not to get any symbols on a winning payline as you go from x2 to x3, to x4... all the way to a x10 multiplier.

Yes mostly you get to about x4 and hit something. This is a low variance slot. But we've hit the x7 and x8 to our great advantage a few times to know that clenching fist thrill that makes us love slot games very much.

Kyle's Random Wilds: The evil guinea pigs have been set loose by Professor Chaos, and it's up to Kyle and his laser eyes to destroy them! He aims and turns any symbol in his path wild. This can give you anything from 3 to 5 extra wilds on screen, and much like the Cartman bonus feature, can either give you everything or nothing.

Mintberry Crunch Epic Bonus Free Spins: 3 bonus symbols anywhere on screens starts the free spin round. We wrote down 'unlimited' because unlike most free spins round, the end isn't defined by a number, but by how many bad guys you can defeat. Usually you get about 20 free spins though, if you really need a number.

You have a total of 4 enemies to defeat and 4 different sets of reels. If you get any win on a payline, you take away a life from your enemy, if you don't, one of your 6 lives are destroyed.

You start with a x1 multiplier. Defeat the evil guinea pigs and you'll head over to the General Dissaray reels, with a 2x multiplier. Defeat him, and you'll try and defeat Professor Chaos with a 3x multiplier. Finally, you'll get a manga style Professor Chaos with a 4x multiplier on the reels.

You rarely get past 3x multiplier. This is mostly because whilst every evil guy you defeat comes with a full set of 6 lives, you're lives do not get replenished. So by the time you reach professor chaos, you are likely to have half the lives.

Thank-fully, this is a mid-to-low variance machines, so wins come often enough to climb that ladder.

It's certainly fun, and a good way to make players grateful for any wins on the reels, rather than huge wins, because as long as you keep winnings, the free spins keep coming.

South Park Reel Chaos Review Conclusion

Big thrill gamblers won't find much here to entertain them as the features hit frequently but with few big wins.

Call us childish, but we miss the fart and vomit jokes. Yet there's no doubt that the theme is far more welcoming to all, meaning non-South Park fans will be able to enjoy a cute cartoony game.

That said, South Park Reel Chaos mobile slot does hide the occasional hope of getting a decent size win and is friendly enough to your budget that you'll certainly get value for money on these 20 paylines.

Walk away if you get to about 25% on top of your budget, and then head to the original for some riskier spins, but bigger wins.
