So we get the general idea of this slot game theme; what you have is a creepy gothic story set in the twilight of Victorian England.

You have the pretty maid, the high born lady, the copper, the handsome academic and the creepy gardener all looking out for the darkness without. They are the high paying symbol and give this game it’s feel and character.

And there is darkness in this A Dark Matter slot, thanks to the wild symbols, which can spread across the reels in a black sludge of weirdness. No we get no story, but you get the general feel – it’s about as Lovecraftian as the Tome of Madness slot or The Rift slot by Thunderkick.

Stacked wilds, spreading wilds or just wilds

The draw here is the fact that you have three types of wild symbols – which is the A Dark Matter slot logo, so easy to spot.

The first is just a simple wild that pops up on reels 2, 3 and 4. Then you get stacked wilds on reels 2 and 4, but if you get a full reel wild, it spreads to one of the other reels, giving you two reels wild.

If you land two full reels of wilds, you’ll also get reel 3 wild, giving you 3 reels of wild symbols and guaranteed multiple 4 of a kind wins, and maybe even a few 5 of a kind wins if you are lucky.

A Dark Matter slot only has 5 paylines

Which isn’t a problem, except the A Dark Matter video slot has 5 reels and is meant to be something a little bit more complex. But with only 5 paylines, the paytable is good, but not quite good enough for the fact you don’t get multipliers in the free spins bonus.

Actually, we lied, there is a multiplier but it’s hard to find.

You need to land two wild reels, get the wilds to spread to reel 3 so you have 3 wild reels… and then you get a 2x multiplier on all wins.

Which is so much fun when it happens and we’ve seen it to know it’s not a crazy scenario. But we just with this gave us an easier way to feel like we might get those bigger wins.

Much like our Zombie Hoard slot review, this is just fun enough to recommend, but we suspect you won’t be playing this much beyond Halloween.

A Dark Matter Review Conclusion

With a Gothic look that seems to imply something darker within, this Slingshot Studio game is well drawn and certainly eerie enough to make for a good addition to our Halloween slots list.

We wish there was a more cohesive storyline rather than what looks like a turn of the century cast of characters set against a creepy house, but that's a personal choice.

This A Dark Matter slot on mobile has lots of great features, from stacked wilds to invading wilds, to free spins with just the hint of a possibility of a multiplier.

It's a shame you have to wait for just one feature to get 90% of the thrills, which is why we can't give it a full 4 star slot review like in the Banana Odyssey slot by the same provider, but still very playable.
