This is the main draw of the Spin16 video slots. Basically you can swipe to the left, right, up or down, of any column. So 16 ways to spin.
You still only win on pays left to right of course, but with the addition that if you do win, you can get an extra multiplier.
Because after every spin, a green arrow will spin, and if it falls in the direction and/or reel you picked, you get to multiply your win from 2x to 10x your bet.
Which sounds great fun right? Except once you get over the coolness of being able to swipe and spin, you end up inevitably using the normal buttons to spin.
And that makes you realise that Age of Spartans is basically a simple 30 payline slot with wilds and scatters.

Which is something we could forgive, if you felt that, at some point, you could win something worthwhile or get lots of little different actions to keep you entertained.
Here you get neither. The most you can hope to win is about 130 times your bet, and that’s fairly high at the top of the scale. So winning more than 20x is fairly difficult.
Add that once you get over the Spin16 gimmick, you’re left with nothing more than one wild and one scatter to occupy your attention, and you start thinking… but why? Why am I still spinning.
The good news, your budget won’t have moved too much either way to make much of a difference.

Wild: The Spartan Man is the wild symbol and replaces all other symbols on the reels, except scatter.
Scatter: The shield dotted with arrows is the scatter symbol and 250 times your bet if you get 5 on the reels.
Spin16 Feature: Spin one of 16 different directions, up, down, left or right.
A yellow arrow will mark your pick. A green arrow then goes round after the spin, picking one of the directions and reels.
If they match perfectly you get a 10x multiplier on any win. If you match the reel, you get 5x multiplier, and if you match the direction you get either 2x or 3x multiplier.
The green arrow spins even if you don't win anything, making it massively annoying when it hits perfectly, and that 10x multiplier is perfectly wasted.
Spin Hot or Spin Cold: This is their equivalent of the spin button.

Age of Spartans mobile slot is not a bad game by any means. In fact it could be viewed as a simple 30 payline slot, with wilds and scatters and the occasional multiplier.
But once you realise you can win anything worthwhile unless that multiplier lands just right, and you get tired of waiting, you are better off trying something a little more traditional like Treasures of Troy by IGT.
