Fans of the Legend of Ron Burgandy Anchorman film will absolutely love this mobile slot game.

This Bally slot game has got clips from the movie, all your favourite characters in Ron, Baxter, Brian, Brick and Champ, and not a single generic symbol.

There’s obviously a very 1970s feel to these five reels, though what we don’t understand is why the need to make it so you can only play it in portrait mode as the Anchorman mobile slot.

This casino betting game is all about the bonus features. With 25 paylines, you’d think you’d get some decent 4 or 5 of a kind wins, but honestly, not so much.

You are basically waiting for either stacks of mystery reels in the base game or extra 3 to 10 wilds that can randomly drop.

More than likely though, it’s the bonus wheel that will see you get your best rewards as you can win either a 500 to 1,000x your bet multiplier or (more likely) one of the four bonus features.

What is the best slot bonus game?

You won’t have much of a choice here, 3 scatters will give you a spin of the reels where you win cash of one of the guys will give you a bonus.

Brick and Brian are the worst of the lot: you get to click to reveal measly cash prizes. Sometimes, the multipliers can get you ahead, but not often.

The Ron or Champ free spins are more interesting thankfully. Ron (in particular) super sizes everything as you get a 19 row expanded slot much like in the Keystone Kops slot by IGT.

Why is this just a 3 star slot?

We really loved the original movie, so the theme isn’t the problem, it’s the wins. You really feel like the odds are with Ron Burgundy rather than with you. Suddenly you are Veronica trying to have your voice heard amongst all these macho men.

The other reason we couldn’t give it an extra star is that this slot has a high minimum bet of 0.75 a spin for only 25 paylines, leaving many casual gamblers out in the cold.

Maybe try the Wacky Race slot or the Kooza game which has lower minimum bets.

Anchorman Review Conclusion

You can't deny that this Anchorman slot on mobile is well themed, even if the portrait only mode on mobile phone and tablet is a little annoying.

The main problem is that the wins aren't anything that impressive, and catching the bonus doesn't guarantee particularly thrilling spins.

That said both free spins features are surprisingly good fun, and catching those extra wilds during the base game can make you feel like a legend, so this Bally game isn't without merit.

Mostly though, we'd say this is for fans of the film who want to re-experience their favourite character in a whole new fashion.

For the rest of us, there's always the Jumanji slot if you want a movie game with a bit more thrill.
