The Anubis mobile slot is here from the hood! Can you say ‘holla’? Can you say… I’m sorry what now? Confused? Isn’t this an Egyptian themed slot?
What are we talking about? Come on… look at the image of Queen of the Nile on the right hand side of the screen. Tell us you can’t imagine this busty lady to be called Shawanda and gets those lovely hair braids done whilst getting some clawrelific acrylic nails.
Now you’ve seen it, you can’t un-see it.
This in itself wouldn’t be a problem, if it wasn’t for the fact that iGaming2Go have managed to yet again mutilate what should have been a fairly simple theme. There are hundreds of Egyptian themed slots (our favourite of which, IGT’s Crown of Egypt is exceptionally beautiful), so you know when you head into this genre you are going to get competition.
Needless to say this mobile game doesn’t match up in terms of graphics. It doesn’t even match up in terms of sounds, with generic slot machine mechanical ring a ding ding keeping you company. Add a fairly low return to player rate of 94.2% and you might wonder why you should even bother.
The answer is a little bit of a complex one. Anubis is essentially the twin sister to Money Bee. If you’ve read our review of Money Bee, you’ll see we are fairly torn about these mobile slots. The maximum pay out on this slot is fairly decent, with max win of 1000x your bet tempting enough to get you spinning. Add to that a free game feature that has some good chances at some decent wins and it becomes far more interesting.
Thing is, more often than not, you come out of this slot with far lower wins than you might wish for, and the slot is simply not entertaining enough to keep you playing for the long run, or hard hitting often enough to appeal to the jackpot hunters out there. It sits uncomfortably in the middle of nowhere.
But, what it does do well is play well on all the devices with tests on even quite minimal internet connection. A rare but highly sought out feature when you are on the move and on mobile. It might even be enough to get you to try this slot to see if you get lucky enough to talk out with 100x to 200x your bet.

Wild: The Queen/Shawanda is the wild symbol, blowing kisses at you with ever win she helps creates. She replaces all symbols except scatter.
Scatter and Free Spins: Get three scarab jewels anywhere on reels from left to right, and you'll trigger a small pick me game. From here you'll reveal how many free spins you'll win by picking under the stones. These can go as high as 18, but generally tend to average out at about 8 to 10. The titular hero of the slot, Anubis, shows up during the free spin, adding up your total wins of the game together to double your take. Sometimes it will feel like you get nothing, other times you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you take home.
Gamble: Pick if the next card is going to be red or black and double your winnings. A handy little feature when you get all the little base game wins that don't quite cover your bet. Take our advice, it's fairly easy to double your wins, but don't try to guess more than once, it seldom works - even if according to the game you can guess up to 5x.
We left playing Anubis mobile slot slightly confused. We didn't think we were entertained, and we didn't think we liked the sounds and graphics, and yet we walked out with more than we walked in, so that's a good thing right?
By all accounts, this mobile slot shouldn't pay out with a return to player rate of 94.2%. Yet it does and the free spins feature can bring some very surprising wins.
It's unlikely we will return to this slot often, but it plays so well on so many devices, we suspect we might be tempted back when we need a reliable unbreakable mobile slot to play.
