We came in thinking we were going to hate this Bon Bon Bonanza mobile slot. Turns out, we didn’t.
We loaded this Bon Bon Bonanza slot game, saw this generic 9×9 grid with a tons of symbols and sighed…
Why is this Candy Crush theme so popular in slots? Playtech couldn’t make it work with Sweet Party machine, why would Open Bet?
Well, honestly, because they’ve taken the best part of these mobile phone games, and incorporated it into a video slot.
This is where this Bon Bon Bonanza slot manages to get a few points above the rest.
The base game plays much like a slot, in that you place a bet, spin, and the symbols fall onto the screen.
Get a vertical or horizontal line of symbols of 3 or more, and you get a win.
The real excitement happens during the free games, where you actually get a chance to swap candies on screen to create winning lines.
If you get 4 or 5 symbols in a row, you even get power up symbols that can be used as Wilds (like in the Viking Runecraft game) or explode the whole screen.
These are not as useful as you might think, considering they then need to be part of a winning combo to be useful, and there’s far too many symbols on screen to guarantee that happening.
However, they are far more useful when you get to the free spins, as then you can move them around, and get 5x to 10x your bet as they explode symbols on screen.
In fact, thanks to the Mega Feature, we got a blazing 200x our bet win during the amazingly fun free games.
As you might have guessed from our Bon Bon Bonanza slot review so far… we LOVED the free spins / free games, whatever you want to call them.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of the base game which can feel very slow, especially if the free games don’t come around often enough; which they generally don’t.
Patience is needed. But, get one good Bon Bon Bonanza bonus game, and you’ll find this a sweet, sweet treat.

9x9 All Ways pay: To win you must match any 3, 4 or 5 of the same symbols together in line vertically or horizontally anywhere on 9x9 grid.
Dynamite on a 4 Line Win: You get a dynamite symbol when you get a 4 symbol win.
Then, the Dynamite symbol must fall so it can be used as a wild in a win to activate. Once activated it will blow a whole row out and award a prize of x5 bet.
Bomb on a 5 Line Win: You get a bomb symbol when you get a 5 line win.
Same as with dynamite, to activate the bomb symbol, it must be used as a wild in a win. Once activated it will blow the whole screen away and award a prize of x10 bet.
Bonus Game: Not technically like the free spins you'll find in games like Spina Colada slot.
It's more like a mini-game, where you get to swap symbols on screen in order to create 3, 4 or 5 of a kind wins.
As you do this, you'll get wins, and fill the meter at the top of the screen.
Once full, the bonus game end and you'll get one of three mega features:
Thanks to it's unusual bonus game feature, and the fact that we got some great wins out of it, this Bon Bon Bonanza mobile slot review managed to get 3 stars for 'playable'.
The main problem is that there's not enough wins, or enough happening, in the base game, to keep you hooked. Though there is that jackpot slot prize you can look for, we suppose.
Our advice, gives yourself a certain number of spins (20/50) and if you don't get the bonus game, move on to another slot phone game.
If you like gridslots then Cloud Quest by Play'n GO is also a great option.
