What, at first, looks like a very generic ‘living the high life’ game, becomes something a little more complex in this Crystal Cash slot.
When we first loaded up this Ainsworth slot our first thought was; here we go again.
They are the kings of 100 payline machines, changing just a couple of features in the free spins to make things interesting; in Dragon Lines you got stacked wilds, in Mustang Money you got multiplier matching the number of reels, and in Roaming Reels you get more free spins.
And the less we mention Cash Cave, the better.
So we had little hope for this Crystal Cash slot online, which just seems to do much of the same.
Look, we get the theme is a little naff. We are not pretending otherwise. The ‘rich symbols’ of a pink Rolex watch, and purple clutch and a diamond heart sapphire is about as appealing as whatever is hidden in the 1970s Eau de Parfum bottle of these reels.
But you can’t deny the results. Specifically the fact that you get a chance at some decent wins in the base game and the free spins – instead of either one or the other.
Reason being, during the base game you get stacked wilds on reels 3, 4 and 5. During the free spins the wilds don’t come stacked, but they come with a 2x or 3x multiplier, which can add up together to create bigger multipliers.
Technically, if you get 3 wilds each with a 3x multiplier, you can get as much as 9x your winning payline.
But thats not all.
Here’s the true beauty of this little gem of a mobile slot game. Not only do you get those multipliers, but all the Ace to 9 symbols disappear from view, leaving you only the higher paying symbol.
And these come stacked, so you can literally get 5 reels full of the same symbol. We’ve seen it done. It’s a beautiful feeling. Add a 5x multiplier to that equation and you’re laughing all the way to the bank.
Even if that journey is filled with purple diamanté clutch bags.
Granted, this is nowhere near as visually appealing as the likes of the Riviera Riches slot from Microgaming. But this Crystal Cash mobile slot at least promises actually riches, which makes for a welcome change.

Wild Symbol: The Diamond encrusted dollar symbol is the wild symbol and replaces for all other symbols except scatter.
It appears on reels 3, 4 and 5, stacked, during the base game. During the free spins, on the other hand, it's no longer stacked, but shows up on 2, 3 and 4 with a multiplier.
Scatters and Free Spins: Get 3 more sapphire diamond heart scatters anywhere on screen, and you'll trigger 10 free spins.
5 scatters is also worth looking out for, as it's an instant 100 times your bet.
As we mentioned before, you'll now get the wilds, but with a 2x to 3x multiplier attached. If you get two or three on screen, the multipliers add up, giving you a bigger multiplier.
More importantly, all the lower paying symbols (A - 9) disappear from screen, leaving only the higher paying symbols on screen, which generally comes stacked across all reels.
Considering we had such low expectations when we opened up this Crystal Cash mobile slot, we were actually pleasantly surprised with the mechanics here.
Unlike other Ainsworth casino games, you don't feel like the free spins are the only place you could get a decent win, and wilts the graphics and sounds are nothing to shout about, the frequent and decent wins more than make up for the lack of visual beauty.
Would we rather play on Mega Fortune Dreams and play to win millions? Sure, but we are progressive jackpot whore. This is a good alternative for those looking for a non-jackpot game, but still want that luxury feel.
Luxury feel, circa 1979.
