Welcome to a golden steampunk world where for a little extra bet you can rule this Fortunium mobile slot.
The first of the Stormcraft studios slot machine, this certainly catches your eye as you open up a beautiful Victorian city where steam is king.
In fact, this Fortunium slot was perfectly made for mobile as the 5×5 grid reels look particularly impressive when played in portrait mode.
That said, in landscape, you get a beautiful cityscape that would put any fantasy sci-fi artist to shame. It’s far more impressive than the symbols themselves, but even they are far more impressive than NetEnt’s own Steam Tower slot.
The first thing you have to decide is whether to press the little green button and increase your bet.
To give you an idea of how much, the usual minimum bet of this 40 payline slot machine is an incredibly low 0.10 a spin – if you use the win booster that increases to 0.15 a spin. So not a massive shift, but enough to reconsider.
What this buys you is that the stacked mystery symbols that appear on all the reels now reveal only high paying symbols and wilds.
Which is great to get big wins, but will mean less wins overall, as you often get more low paying symbols on the reels.
We played with it on, but we can understand that if you don’t have a huge budget, you might want to leave this button alone and get more (but smaller wins).
3 scatters will trigger 10 free spins with one reel always full of mystery symbols. 4 scatters will get you 2 reels, and 5 scatters will get you 3… but you’ll rarely catch those.
So the free spins bonus round is OK, at best, to be honest. If we had to pick another game that used Mystery symbols better, we’d say the Fortune Girl slot brought more drama.
The reason is that most of the symbols here come stacked anyway, so the mystery reel just reveals what…? A bigger stack? Maybe? Sometimes?
This is a great entry in to the online and mobile slots world from Stormcraft, and certainly beautiful, but it stutters along the way as there is just not a lot of drama.
Still with a low minimum bet and about 800 times your bet max win, we’d be happy to take a few more spins from time to time.

Wild: The golden compass is the wild symbol and can be used to replace all other symbols across the 40 paylines.
It only comes stacked in the mystery symbols.
Stacked Symbols: The two characters are the highest paying symbol and they come stacked 5 symbols high. All the other symbols are stacked 2 high.
Mystery Symbols: These are stacks of '?' boxes which then change to all have just one symbol when they land on any of the 5 reels.
These can reveal stacks of wild symbols or any other symbol.
Win Booster: If you don't mind paying a little extra, you can ensure that those stacked of mystery symbols only contain wild or high paying symbols - no low high cards symbols.
Scatters and Free Spins: 3 or more scatters trigger 10 free spins with a randomly selected mystery reel. This reel will always have stacks of the same symbol.
During the bonus game, each scatter that shows up will give you +1 spin.
A brilliant start for Stormcraft studios who is able to bring a beautiful looking new steampunk fantasy slot that works.
All the stacked symbols are used to good effect especially if, like us, you like to use the boost button to try and get those bigger wins with the mystery stacks.
That said, the free spins lack drama when all you get is one reel of mystery symbols. Sure you could get more, but it's so unlikely that you might as well forget it.
You get lots of stacked mystery symbols in the base game, so you don't feel the need for them here - it feels like a wasted opportunity of a bonus game.
This Fortunium slot on mobile basically suffers the same problem as Pirate's Charm by Quickspin; the mystery is, you get stacked symbols.
Which you do anyway with all the other symbols. So. Good?
