Join the fiercest warrior from the land of the rising sun as they battle it out in this Hanzo’s Dojo mobile slot for glory and wins.
Japanese slot machines tend to focus on the past traditions or the modern Kawaii culture (ie. the Tokidoki game).
Well, Hanzo’s Dojo brings together all the greatest warriors from Japan together under one roof; from the ninjas to the samurai, the fan warrior and the sumo wrestlers, this is a boiling pot of fighters.
They are here to impress one man: the dojo master Hanzo. And let us tell you, he is sure to impress you instead.
Hanzo’s Dojo is a 5 reel, 3 row, 25 payline video slot with two free spin bonus features, mega symbols, wild reels, multipliers and (if you are lucky) even pay both way reels.
In fact, it’s easier to tell you to read the slot features below than to try and explain them all here again, because we are more likely to confuse than to amuse you.
The short of it is that you have to keep an eye on the rooftop mini 3 reel slot at the top of the standard base game. This Rooftop slot has 4 different symbols: Hanzo, expanding wilds, free spin symbols and blank symbols.
The expanding wilds and the blank symbols are probably the easiest to understand, but it’s with the two free spins symbols where you’ll truly see glory.
Hanzo’s free spins are the ones you’ll get the most often – and they are a good bonus to get.
You have one mega symbol in the centre of the reels and you spin reel 1 and 5 to try and get some mega wins. We loved it in the Wolf Gold slot by Pragmatic, and we love it here.
But it’s the scattered triggered free spin rounds where things get really interesting, especially if you can catch some extra bonus features.
These aren’t always easy to get; those 2x multiplier and pay both ways are particularly elusive but get a good combination of features and you’ll be looking at wins of over 600 times your bet.
Something we’ve experienced, and can’t wait to see if we can get more in this beautifully balanced Hanzo’s Dojo slot game by Yggdrasil.

Wilds: The ornate mask is the wild symbol and can be used to replace any other symbol on the 5x3 reels and 25 paylines.
Rooftop Slot: There's a 3 symbol mini reel above the dojo where you can get one of four symbols.
Hanzo Spins: Get 3 Hanzo symbols in the rooftop slot (including with a combination of wilds), and you'll trigger 3 free spins.
Except you'll get a random fixed 3x3 symbol covering reels 2, 3 and 4, so the only reels spinning are 1 and 5.
Sometimes this pays off, especially if you can get a wild or higher paying mega symbol, but generally, you can expect around 10x to 20x your bet as this features triggers more often than the normal free spins.
Scatters and Free Spins: There are two types of scatters, and you need any combination of 3 or more to trigger free spins.
The normal base game scatters will each give you 3 spins, whilst the rooftop scatters will give you 4 free spins plus one random bonus features.
So, for example, if you trigger the free spins using 3 base game scatters, you'll play 9 free spins with no extra bonus features.
But if you trigger the free spins using 2 base game scatters and one rooftop scatter, you'll trigger 3+3+4 = 10 free spins + 1 bonus feature.
The good news is that any rooftop scatters than lands during the free spins can also trigger a bonus feature or give you more free spins.
Some of the extra Hanzo's Dojo bonus boosters you can trigger are:
Even if you don't get a booster, reels 2, 3 and 4 will only spin mega symbols of all types, increasing your chances of getting some wins.
Considering this Hanzo's Dojos slot on mobile has 25 paylines, it's very welcoming to all with a minimum bet of only 0.10 a spin.
But that's the general feeling from this Yggdrasil Android slot; it might have some fierce warriors and some fierce free spins, but it's actually nicely balanced so all can take a few quick spin.
With two very different but equally exciting free spin rounds, we found ourselves happily spinning away and getting surprised by new features that popped up when we least expected.
Another fine Oriental iPhone game to be added to collection after the wonderfully quirky Penguin City slot that came just before.
