With dancing fairies, woodland critters and the green man for company, the Owl Eyes mobile slot is just a little bit magical and not quite your simple NextGen game.
It’s not often that NextGen Gaming bring out a 5×4 reels and 50 paylines game, but that’s exactly what you have here. The last similar one was the Merlin’s Magic Re-spins slot, which being one of the best of it’s sister slots, would be unfair to draw too many comparisons.
Because what the Owl Eyes slot reminded us of more than anything was the old fashioned IGT slots, like Wolf Run and Wild Wolf, with stacked wilds chasing the free spin bonus. But this is no IGT game, something which the more casual gambler will be happy to hear.
At first we liked it. With a deep mystical forest in the background and little fairies floating around, it gave an eerie but magical feel to this Owl Eyes slot game. Even the music has a little piano drift that ties the whole thing together.
And yet… and yet… when we look at the reels, all the symbols feel a little old fashioned and chaotic. The animation of the owl flying off into the night is fuzzy and the little leaf details on the high card symbol makes this extra large game a little disorganised.
But that might be more when we open it up as a Tablet or iPad slot, where all the little details are all the clearer on screen. On the smaller phone screens, it’s not as obvious. Needless to say, this real money game works equally well on Android as iOS devices.
You’ll soon notice that you only get 5 free spins when you hit those full moon scatters, much like the games we mentioned above. It’s not much, but unlike the Wolf Run type slots, Owl Eyes bonus games are ridiculously easy to catch. You can rarely go through 50 spins without hitting it at least once, perhaps even a couple of times.
As you may have gathered, the flip side to that is that the wins aren’t as significant. A big win on the free spins is about 50x to 100x your bet, whilst really expecting an average of about 25x your bet. Many times we’ve even gotten as little as 5x our bet, so fluctuates widely.
But the free spins are where the wins are in this game, as they have richer stacked wilds, leading to more 5 of a kind wins. In the base game the stacked wilds are there to increase your wallet a little here and there, but it’s in the free spins that they shine, with that 2x multiplier making a real difference.
Fans of big hit wins will probably need to look elsewhere, but Owl Eyes mobile slot is great for those who don’t want to make risky bets and aim to get 20% on top of their budget as a goal.

Stacked Wilds: The owl symbol is wild and comes stacked across reels 2, 3 and 4. Does not substitute for the scatters.
Scatters & Free Spins: Get three full moons anywhere on the screen and you'll trigger 5 free spins. The reels are richer here, with more stacked wilds than in the base game. You can also re-trigger the free spins within this feature, which is not as hard as you might think.
As a slot machine Owl eyes is pretty tame. you may be heading into the deep dark woods, but the fairies are guarding your budget rather than taking it.
You won't win huge amounts here, but the free spins come often and the wins you do get can give you a nice top up so you come out flying.
And if all else fails there's always a whole load more NextGen slots to keep you entertained.
