These mystical creatures bring out wonderful images of fire and glory, but can this Phoenix Fire Power Reels mobile slot live up to its name?
The tale, as we know it, are that these eternal mythical birds would live for hundreds of years before combusting into a fiery flame and being reborn from the ashes of its predecessor.
There’s something wonderfully powerful about the mythology around the Phoenix bird, and it’s crazy that there are not as many Phoenix slots as you might think. It fits the theme of the machine well, considering that when you play Phoenix Fire Power Reels slot you’ll either rise again and feel like a new person, or get burned to ashes.
This has 8 reels of 6 rows of magical symbols of tomes, scrolls and rings as the high paying symbols and Heart, Spade, Clover and Diamond as the low paying ones. Better yet, they can pay on any of the 30 payline when they are just adjacent to each other. So you can get a 3 of a kind win on reels 3, 4 and 5, for example.
There is one special symbol that looks like wings wrapped around a ruby. It’s special because it doesn’t PAY anything. Nothing. Not one little penny.
Annoying? Yes, especially as they come stacked and they seem to come often and everywhere. It’s not the first game to do it, Action Bank from Barcrest or even Hanzo’s Dojo by Yggdrasil have non paying symbols.
But considering this Phoenix Fire Power Reels slot only has 30 paylines, even if it is over 6 reels, it makes it that much harder to get wins, especially as the big wins in the paytable come with 5 or 6 of a kind wins over the 30 payline, not 3 or 4 of a kind – which is mostly what you get.
We gave this Phoenix Fire Power Reels slot review three stars because, despite our frustration about the non-paying symbol, there is a little method to Red Tiger’s madness.
Namely the fact that the Phoenix is a symbol that stands 3 high and if it lands next to the winged symbols, turn them into wilds. And sometimes, a phoenix can randomly fly on the reels and turn ALL winged symbols into wilds, which is beautiful to watch.
The problem is it doesn’t happen often and you can only get one Phoenix wild on the reels at any point. Except, of course, during the free spins bonus round, where you can get up to 3 wild symbols. Whoop?!
It can actually be lots of fun, which is why this gets 3 stars, but be careful with your budget as you generally can only get around 2,000 times your bet, but if you get some nice wins maybe remember to head to check out the Phoenix Sun slot game.

Wild Symbol: The Phoenix symbol, stacked 3 symbols high, is the wild symbol and substitutes for all paying symbols. However, they can only form one payout in a single payline and will always pick the higher paying symbol he it only shows up on his own, never more than one at a time.
More importantly, he will turn any winged symbols touching the wild into more wilds.
Phoenix Wildfire: If you don't have the Phoenix Wild on the reels, a Phoenix may randomly appear and turn all the winged symbols into wilds.
Winged Symbols: These are non paying symbols that land in stacks on the screen. However, they can be turned into wild symbols by either a Phoenix wild or the Phoenix Wildfire.
Scatters and Free Spins: Three Free Spins symbols anywhere on the reels triggers 7 Free Spins. You can retrigger the Bonus Spins multiple times and up to three Phoenix Wilds may land on the reels in a single spin during Free Spins.
Like a rising flaming firebird, this Phoenix Fire Power Reels slot on mobile has big highs and big lows. Sometimes it feels like it can take forever to get this bird charged up and fire up, which is made all the more frustrating by the fact that you have so many stacks of non paying symbols.
That said, the fact you can get adjacent pays helps to keep things flowing, but honestly, despite the 8x6 reels and stacks of symbols, this can feel a little slow.
Mostly because every win and every bit of excitement is all about seeing that Phoenix land on the screen and get as many wilds as possible.
And while it looks similar to the Dragon's Fire slot machine, it's doesn't quite get your adrenaline going as high whilst still being more dangerous than most. Personally, if you want something with a bigger punch, maybe read our Phoenix Reborn slot review.
