More a kerfuffle than a real frenzy, this Blueprint Gaming Pirates Frenzy slot doesn’t have much to boast, other than a 6th reel which gives you a more interesting paytable.
Well, just looking at the screenshots, you know that this Pirates Frenzy slot review isn’t going to win any points by its looks, or it’s animations.
This is more old-fashioned than a ruffled collar, with graphics that look like they could belong in the dawn of the 1990s internet. In short, our 5-year-old niece could do a better job with a painting app on our iPad.
You have Ace to 10 symbols, and then generic symbols such as rum, oranges, bags of gold, a parrot, and then two special symbols: the ship is the scatter, and the Pirate is the wild. It’s a Pirate slot game, that’s about all we can say about that.
How? By asking you to press the PowerPlay button. This will double your bet, and what you get for that is a 6th reel, which means 6 of a kind wins.
Are the 6 of a kind wins worth it over the 10 paylines? Sure, of course. How likely are you to get 6 of a kind wins? Not very high. And 5 of a kind wins don’t generally get you the kind of winning combinations of symbols that give much impact.
So you are damned if you do, damned if you don’t. If you don’t pay, you don’t get the better paytable, but at double your bet, the better paytable costs you most of your decent wins on anything other than 6 of a kind.
Nope. But that’s not to say there are not slivers of hope. Mostly it’s in the golden bag symbol, which is more or less full in the base game, but all pays the same.
However, during the free spins, these bags start to take values of their own, from 1x to 12x your bet.
This matters because when a wild pirate symbol shows up in the free spins (and only in the free spins – what’s with that?!) he will gather all the golden bags as instant wins.
Which sure, can lead to wins of over 50x your bet. Or they cannot. This is not a hard-hitting game but meant to be a fun frolic in the ocean. It’s not even that. Maybe try the Finn’s Golden Tavern slot instead, for more fun and modern twist on the genre.

Wild: The Pirate is the wild symbol and will replace any other symbol in order to create a win over any of the 10 paylines.
Scatters and Free Spins: 3 or more scatters will trigger the only bonus in this Pirates Frenzy slot machine - the free spins and the pirate hoard feature.
During the bonus game, if any pirate and bags of gold show up on the screen, the Pirate will collect all the booty in the bags of gold. Each bag has different value amounts to collect, but they pay as one symbol on the paytable.
Power Play: For double your bet, you can activate a 6th reel and 6 symbol wins. You'll also get more scatters and more gold bag symbols.
The Pirates Frenzy slot on mobile offers very little in the way of anything new, from old and tired graphics to an expensive feature that rarely pays out what it's worth.
It's not that there aren't some wins to be found here, but nothing worth the extra bet, and without it, there's even less. If they hadn't made us pay for that 6th reel, we may have given this Pirate Frenzy review 3 stars.
