A biopunk game with a beautiful setting, this Temperance mobile slot should have been so much better.

We take our hats off to Old Skool Gaming who have released a game that is a wonderful tribute to the iconic BioShock video game.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to know this reference to enjoy the beauty of this Temperance slot. Set in an underwater hotel that had seen better days, you can see the whole blue ocean in the background surrounding a dystopian city.

There are cogs, there are glass domes, there’s even a French version of “Beyond the Sea” playing that adds a wonderfully creepy but fun atmosphere.

So why did we give this a 2-star slot game review?

Somewhere beyond the sea, there’s a 5×3 reel slot

Once you get over how beautifully constructed this virtual casino game is, you’ll then squint your eyes and notice the tiny 5 reels, 11 symbols and 20 paylines that feel like they were inserted as an afterthought.

The Temperance online slot played on a big desktop screen, maybe, would get an extra star. But on a mobile phone or a iPad or an Android Tablet slot?

The images get lost, and so does the fun of the spin. Avoid.

This Temperance slot doesn’t bring any new surprises

There's no doubt that the Old Skool Games studio thought very hard about the setting. We just wish that they'd thought about the fact that we slot players love are the reels.

Those spinning reels, and being able to see the wins and symbols are all part of the fun. And when your mechanics are fairly generic (wilds, scatters, free spins) you need to make us fall in love with the reels.

Even still, the wins here aren't intense enough to make us overlook this when games like Afterlife Inferno boast 8,000 times your bet.

A so-so game, with a beautiful wasted theme.
