This Tetris Super Jackpots mobile slot loses a lot in translation, though to be honest, it’s not an easy theme to modernise.
At the time of writing, it has been 2 years since Bally and Scientific Games announced that they were going to create a Tetris slot.
Whilst it was clearly just a pull at nostalgia for them, nowadays it feels like an even less relevant theme as anyone born after 1990 is pretty clueless of the game.
But, much like the Space Invaders slot, enough people will recognise it, open it, and that would be a mistake.
We were born before 1990, and as prime targets for this game it broke our hearts to say that we were disappointed in the this Tetris mobile slot.
Online it fares slightly better as you get the iconic cuboid shapes floating down the top of the screen as you spin 5 reels and 3 rows with 243 ways to win paylines.
More importantly, those shapes randomly drop onto your reels, giving you a whole cluster of high paying symbols and sometimes even expanding the reels.
What’s right? The base game is slow, and the wins minimal. You need a 5 of a kind on the two highest paid symbols to get your bet back, or 3x your bet.
Anything less than a 5 of a kind win is just token gestures that rarely covers your gameplay.
The shapes that drop from above are rarely useful to create wins, at best they help a little, at worst they are a distraction of the money you’re spending.
During the free games, the rows expand to cover the whole portrait of this Tetris Jackpot game, much like in Mighty Black Knight by WMS.
Every time you get a win, a silhouete of those cuboids drops on screen and someone really, really, really bad at Tetris starts playing.
You can win a jackpot whilst playing the Tetris Super Jackpots slot bonus games, up to 2,500 times your bet.
Because those silhouettes define how many spins you get – when they reach the top, the spins stop, much like in the real game.
We counted, in one of the free spin bonus round we played 24 free games, won only 5 times (with the cubes landing on top of each other as if the Tetris player wasn’t even trying) and only got 10x our bet.
Granted, if you manage to wake up the hypothetical player two, and get the game to line up rows, you get decent cash prize and even that jackpot.
But it never feels like the wins are anywhere near close enough to care – the Thundercats slot is a far better portrait 8 row mobile game.

Tetrimino Feature: At any one point, any of 7 Tetris figures might drop from the sky and land either inside the 5x3 reels, or above them.
If inside, it creates a cluster of the same high paying symbol. If on top, it still creates a cluster, but with the added benefit that you now have new paylines.
Free Spins Game Bonus: 3 Scattered Tetris slot logos anywhere on screen will trigger the free games.
You will now play on huge 8 row high reels, and one symbol will be chosen before each spin to come stacked.
On each win, a Tetris symbol will drop from above, and when those symbols reach the top, the free spins stop.
This doesn't usually take very long - maybe 5 to 8 wins, but you can sometimes make it longer by matching a line, when you'll get 20x your bet instantly.
This is pretty rare however.
How to trigger one of the 3 Jackpots: Remember how rare we said it was to trigger a line win during the free spins.
Well, not only do you have to do that, but you have to do it using a gold tatris symbol, which is dropped randomly.
At that point you will win one of three bonuses:
It's more than you'll be able to win whilst playing the poor Panda Fortune slot, but at least that one had more hope.
Nostalgia might get you through the door, but it won't be enough to keep you in as you spin a fairly dull Tetris Super Jackpot slot on mobile.
It's not like the potential for big wins isn't there - this is from the same studios that brought you the likes of the Rainbow Riches games on mobile.
But it takes far too much work, and the theme is far too dated, to keep you spinning long enough to find out.
Personally, we'd rather play casino games that hit the right nostalgia notes, like Arcader by Thunderkick, without depending on an old brand to make it look interesting.
