How to play The Goonies mobile slot

The Goonies is probably one of the most beloved movies of grown-up kids of a certain age who lived through the 80s and 90s.

You’d think that the fact you can win one of 6 bonus features, three of which are some blazing free spin rounds would be awesome right?

Yeah, it’s awesome alright… if you can win any of the awesome features. Because Blueprint Gaming are cruel, and once you’ve got your three scatters (not easy to get) you spin a wheel to win one of the bonuses.

You then get asked if you want to gamble that bonus game for a better one. And here’s the problem: we played for hours, and the only way to get to the top three most high paying bonuses is by trying that gamble feature – which gives you a 50% chance of losing any bonus in the first place.

Oh, sure, you get a little cash, but what you want is One-Eyed Willy’s Pirate Treasure! It’s a little torturous to play for real money, to be honest, and just frustrating when after so many hours and so much cash, you’ve yet to see the bigger bonuses.

Still, you get decent wins of 20x to 50x your bet most of the time, so it’s not a major disappointment. Just major frustration for what could have been a truly great Pirate slot machine.

Wild Symbol: The wild is the dabloon and can be used on any of the 20 paylines in order to create a win.

The One-Eyed Willy's Riches: These are random character features that can occur during any spin.

• Mikey's Hidden Riches: Any of the reels can become totally wild.
• Data's Colossal Symbols: 3 adjacent reels will turn into one giant Colossal symbol.
• Mouth's Lucky Coins: The Gold coin Mystery symbol is added to the reels, and when it lands, will only show one symbol from the paytable.
• One-Eyed Willy's Bonus Boost: You get extra big scatter symbols - easier to trigger the bonus.
• Sloth's Win Spin: Guaranteed to award a big winning spin.

Lose into Win Spin: After any spin that didn't get a win, you might get either scythe or a cave collapse on the reels, which reset the symbols into a winning pattern.

Scatters and Bonuses: 3 Skull and crossbones pirate symbols will trigger a wheel of fortune bonus.

Here you spin to win one of the features below. However, once you win that feature you can gamble it to try and get the next one on the ladder, usually higher paying.

The gamble is a 50/50 wheel where you either win the next feature or just get a small cash prize.

• Fratelli Hideout Bonus: Pick a key to reveal either cash prize, collect, or hidden tunnel (which triggers any one of the other 5 bonus games)
• Skeleton Organ Bonus: Select organ keys to reveal prizes. These can be bet multipliers, upgrades to that multiplier, or 3 keys which can unlock any of the other bonus features. 3 skull and crossbones end the game
• Super Sloth Free Spins: Get 10 free spins where all the high paying symbol chance to be the Fratelli family. However, if Sloth is now the wild, and when he shows up, all the Fratelli's will now also turn wild.  At the end of Free Spins, you get to choose from a chest to reveals either Super Sloth (extra Spins), Collect (ends the feature) or One-Eyed Willy's Treasure Bonus (awards the feature).
• Goonies Go Wild Free Spins: At the start of each spin one of the top reel symbols will become Wild. At the end of Free Spins you'll pick one of the Copperpot Doubloons which will reveal either collect, One-Eyed Willy's Treasure (awards that feature). or 5 extra spins with all of the Goonies symbols wild.
• Inferno Free Spins: At the start of each spin the Inferno will move from right to left, turning between 1 and 3 reels Wild. At the end of Free Spins, the player will spin a wheel to reveal either collect, the One-Eyed Willy's Treasure or will retrigger the whole feature.

The Goonies Review Conclusion

Personally, we weren't massive fans of this movie when it first came out, so we don't get hit with the same nostalgic notes as we did when reviewing slot games like the Thundercats slot or The Mask by NextGen.

Still, you can't deny that if it's bonuses you want, The Goonies slot on mobile has more than we can count, and far more than you'll probably experience in any one mobile gaming session.

It certainly keeps things from getting boring, even if you can't help but get a little frustrated by the fact that the big bonuses are better hidden than a century-old treasure map.

If you love the movie it's certainly worth a spin, if you don't... it's still good fun, though be prepared to walk away without feeling wholly satisfied.
