With pay both way reels, and expanding wilds that give you re-spins, The Grid mobile slot is clearly trying to duplicate the success of another more famous game…
This is obviously Fantasma Gaming’s answer to the Starburst NetEnt slot. There’s no point denying it, there are far too many similarities.
Even the theme is similar, except worse in every way. You have a grid moving in the background, reminding you of awful 1980s Tron graphics, flat gems and some fairly boring 7s and bars.
In short, nothing like the dazzling display of lights that is the original gem slot. But don’t walk away just yet, The Grid has plenty of redeemable features.
Here’s the frustrating thing; if only the graphics and animations were better, this The Grid slot review would have gotten much higher marks.
It takes the best part of Starburst and then pumps testosterone into the bloodstream by adding multipliers.
So a wild will expand and cover the reels whilst giving you a free re-spin of the other reels. Except if you get another wild, you’ll get a multiplier to your win. Get all the wilds and you get a 4x multiplier.
We’ve won over 200 times our bet thanks to this feature, which is more than you can on most pay both ways slot machines.
Granted, the wilds are only on reels 2, 3 and 4, but that’s the price you pay for multipliers.
That, right there, is the main reason to play The Grid on mobile. The RTP is 96.7% and the maximum win far surpasses anything you’ll find on Starburst.
It’s just such a shame that the graphics are hard to appreciate, and the moving grid in the background makes you feel a little ill if you stare at it for too long.
And despite our big win, we couldn’t help but think back at Play’n GO Spin Party slot which is just as volatile, has expanded wild re-spins, and looks 10 times better.
A solid B for effort, and a D- for execution Fantasma. Sorry.

Pay Both Ways: You get wins if you get symbols to line up over the 10 paylines from left to right, and from right to left, over the 5 reels.
Expanding Wilds and Re-spins: The prism is the wild symbol and shows up on reels 2, 3 and 4.
If it can create a win, it will re-spin, payout, and then give you another re-spin of the reels.
When the re-spin lands, if you get a win, you'll get a 2x multiplier. If another wild lands and expands, you'll get another re-spin and this time with a 3x multiplier on a win. If a final wild lands and expands, you'll get a 4x multiplier and a final re-spin.
You can get a maximum of 3 free re-spins and 4x multiplier on a win.
Despite some massive wins and some great multipliers and re-spins, you can't escape the fact that this Fantasma slot machine looks pretty terrible.
Still, the mechanics here are solid. Every wild expands, gives you a free re-spin of the reels, and a multiplier to boot if more wilds show up.
Maybe it's time to revisit them if you find this machine as hard to look at as we did. If not, enjoy a great both ways pays phone slot.Play Now at Vera & John »
