This will no doubt be an unpopular opinion, but here it is: this Wishwood mobile slot didn’t grant any of our wishes, so we’re sulking.
Wishwood is a strange IGT slot game. For one, it’s prettier and lovelier to look at than many other IGT mobile games, namely because it’s from a newer generation of games.
For two, it’s got lots of bonus features; sticky wins, multipliers, extra wilds, 3 free bonus games… my god, what action! Right?
Wrong. The Wishwood slot is slow paced, slow to pay out, and slow to heat up. It probably shares, in DNA, more in common with the likes of the ol’ Pixies of the Forest slot or even Kitty Glitter, than it does with more modern fares.
And that, in short, is kind of our problem.
Look, we are the first to fall in love with big numbers; how Gem Rocks by Yggdrasil has a top win of 9,000 times your bet, for example.
But big wins aren’t always enough, and maybe it’s because we don’t have the patience to play for half an hour and not hit the free spins.
Or worse; trigger the bonus climb feature, where the little pixie on the side of the reels starts climbing the bonus tree… to not get to any of the free spins again, and again, and again.
It’s frustrating, it’s annoying, and all the sticky wins in the base game and the odd multiplier here and there, can’t vent our frustrations.
That’s pretty huge – it’s the kind of number that will make some gamblers out there ignore our frustrations and start playing on this game immediately.
And good for you; maybe you have that patience. Maybe you are ok playing on an all or nothing slot; with a big emphasis on the nothing most of the time.
We found Wishwood just a little too volatile and too dangerous for our taste; after all whats the point if you don’t feel like you don’t at least have half a chance?
That said, if you ever do manage to climb all the way to the top… well, friend, you’ll be next Fairy King/Queen, that’s for sure.

Stacked Wild: The Wishwood slot logo is wild and comes stacked 4 high. It can be used to replace any other symbol on the paylines to create a win, except the bonus symbol.
Mystery Picker: Any base game spin that doesn't produce a win can trigger a mystery choice bonus, where you'll win:
Tangled Symbols Feature: Randomly, any win, the reels may choose to lock into position any winning symbols and give you free re-spins of the reels. These will continue until no more winning symbols can be found.
This sticky win feature was made famous by the likes of Jack Hammer by NetEnt.
Bonus Climb: Trigger this feature via the Mystery picker, or get three bonus symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5.
You will then spin a wheel to see how high Poa (the pixie) climbs up this magical tree.
The higher up the tree you go, the better the rewards, but many times you don't even get to the rewards, so don't get your hopes up.
You keep spinning until the wheel lands on a tick mark or Poa reaches the top of the tree.
We struggled writing this Wishwood slot review for mobile, namely because we know that this will find a solid fan base in the casino gambling world.
The fact that it has multiple bonus features will no doubt help ease the boredom of waiting for those mythical free spins.
But if you take only one piece of advice it's: don't chase the 3 bonus games.
We've gone 400 spins without hitting them once, or almost hitting them several times, and its frustrating as hell.
Play for the tangled wins, the pretty graphics and the hope of maybe one day winning that 10,000 times your bet jackpot. That's as good as this Wishwood game gets.
