Microgaming is Releasing Not One… Not Four… But 7 New Casino Slots in May

Because it isn’t hard enough trying to ensure you guys get the latest slot reviews as they come out, Microgaming have decided that they want to make our life mad in May by releasing 7 new slot games.

The good news is that some are new, some are old, and only one has been deemed worthwhile enough by Microgaming to be made into an online and mobile slot on the day of release.

All of this and all before the first week of May is over.

And because there’s so many, we are going to write them up in order of what we feel are the most to least interesting.

The Ariana slot – mobile & online

This is Microgaming’s visual masterpiece for May. A beautiful underwater adventure, this medium variance slot hides some interesting features and is brand new.

Namely that over these 5 x 3 reels and 25 pay lines you have stacked symbols and wilds – if these show up on reel one, then any symbol on the other reels will expand, leading to some potentially huge wins.

Cool Wolf & Break Away – now on mobile

These are both identical slots which came out online and are now being made mobile.

Break Away came first, and is all hockey pucks, ice skates and big bad players crashing on the screen in a ice hokey ring.

Personally our favourite theme is that of the Cool Wolf video slot, which celebrates the high schools of the 50’s, with bright Cadillacs, art deco cineplex theatres, and pom-pom wielding cheerleaders.

And more importantly, the wimpy kid who turns into one cool wolf at night. Not saying they are copying 1985’s Teen Wolf movie but…

Cascading reels and medium variance reels

Both slot games are the same. So you get to pick your favourite.

The good news is that on each win the symbols explode and get replaced by more symbols from above. During the free spins these come with multipliers that go up to 10x with each successive win.

The New Big Chef – online only

This is a brand new online slot game. Totally new, and, to be honest, it looks like so many other Microgaming games out there.

It takes one theme, with every cliche and then creates a strange cartoon look to it – see the Riviera Riches slot review for a good example.

Another medium variance machine, it seems like this software provider likes to play it safe: create something that pays enough to interest, but keeps you playing for a nice long time.

And, chances are, they will achieve it with this 5 reel 15 payline slot machine. And chances are it will probably get lost in all the other new Microgaming slot releases month to month.

Then again, it will have a top cash max win of 75,000, so let’s not rush to any conclusions just yet.

Liquid Gold – now on mobile

The liquid gold mobile slot is probably the least impressive looking of all the games on this list.

It reminded us of the slot machine Gold, which much like this theme is all gold bars and flowing rivers of gold. It’s a little cheesy, and certainly not very original, but it proves it’s point.

Yet, we believe this could have one of the better returns, with a mid-to-high volatility. Mostly because the jump from 4 symbol and 5 symbol win is 10x one to the other.

Liquid Gold is a very simple game of wilds, scatters and free spins. But sometimes, simple is best.

River of Riches & Penguin Splash – online

Technically these are not Microgaming games. Instead they are made by the Austrian software Rabcat.

So basically these aren’t ‘new’ so much as ‘new to Microgaming casinos’.

And whilst we have a little more information on Penguin Splash as we know it can be found out there in Rabcat casinos (not many) River of Riches is something a little different.

So the Penguin Splash slot is adorable in that ‘travel to a wintery wonderland where creatures from both poles come to witness the penguin splashing competition’.

Cute, and with 25 pay lines, Penguin Splash is actually a simple slot. There is a simple click me game where you can win up to 25 free spins with a 2x multiplier.

There’s also wilds and scatters… so basic. Like the Microgaming games of old like Tomb Raider or Spring Break.

We know which is the most interesting

River of Riches on the other hand, is far more interesting. We can’t find any good information anywhere, so we have to assume it’s totally new.

The insider look we got from Microgaming makes this a beautiful slot, and a real Indiana Jones of an Adventure.

We are talking molten rivers of gold flowing through the centre reel as a wild and sticky wild during the free games, bringing some huge wins.

It’s the ace in the sleeve, and even though it’s an online slot only, it has some intriguing possibilities.
