We love this time of year when the sky darkens and we are just one haunted mansion away from being viciously murdered by a blood-sucking vampire psychopath and his pack of wolves.

In other words, it’s the perfect excuse for slot game providers to give us dark-themed horror slots full of the undead and monsters.

NetEntertainement love this time of year, better than they do Christmas, and always impress us with their selection. Last year we got a brilliant one, as you can read in our Halloween Jack slot review.

Can this Wolf’s Night online slot compare? Let’s see what we have and whether it’s worth your while.

The Wolf’s Night slot is a classic horror game

As usual, NetEnt have been kind enough to give us a wonderful little 2 and a half minute video. If you can’t watch it, don’t worry, we’ll go through it below.

As usual, we have to start with the theme. Because talking about the features and how a new phone slot machine is going to play is all hypothetical, but we can 100% judge the graphics and sounds.

And we could be a little disparaging and mention that there’s nothing all that new about this Werewolf slot theme. Set somewhere in the 18th century, we walk into a little village full of superstitious people who all fear the howls in the night.

It’s a theme we’ve seen done before, from Night of the Werewolf by Merkur to more inventive fares like the Wicked tales Dark Red slot or Wolf Hunters slot by Yggdrasil.

Yet, it turns out that there’s plenty of reasons to be fearful after all, as these woods are crawling with not just one, but multiple Big Bad Wolves. They are the kind of wolves only NetEnt could bring to the small screen.

Beware the bite of the wolf’s night

We don’t have a whole load of information on this new slot game just yet, other than the fact that The Wolf’s Night slot release date is the 24th of October, just in time for Halloween.

NetEnt’s official description does give you a good idea of what to expect.

“The Wolf’s Night is a 5-reel, 3-row video slot featuring wild substitutions, Free Spins and a bonus Pick-and-Click feature. In this slot, you find yourself beneath a full moon, stalking an 18th-century village by night. You are a fanged, clawed menace – part of an ungodly pack of wolfish creatures.”

It looks good and it actually feels like a simple real money game. And that’s not a bad thing. Sometimes it’s best to keep things simple.

How do we unlock the free spin wilds?

It’s not very clear, but we know one thing for sure; 3 scatters will trigger 10 free spins. During those free spins you may get any one of four possible wilds:

  • Regular Wild
  • Expanding Wild
  • X2 Multiplier Wild
  • Spreading Wild

You don’t get them all at once. You have to earn your werewolf transformation and those bigger wins, but it looks like any kind of wild is a good thing, ultimately.

Add an in-reel Pick and Click feature, like the good old days of classic NetEnt slot machines, and we can see the feeding frenzy begin.

Is this Wolf’s Night slot going to be any good?

The thing that we can say for sure is that we like the sound of it – far more than either the Imperial Riches slot out in September or even the Butterfly Staxx 2 slot review.

The reason for this, in a way, is because NetEnt hasn’t released a whole load of information, and that’s not a bad thing. We don’t know how much is the top win, and we can’t guess the volatility.

But it reminded us a little bit of the old fashioned Blood Suckers slot game, with wilds, scatters, free spins and a click me bonus. And that’s good! Sometimes it’s nice to go back to basics.

When we get more information we will post it right here in this Wolf’s Night Slot preview, and we will be the first to write the full slot review once it comes out as a Halloween casino game.

Will it be the top game of the season? We don’t know, but we hope this is NetEnt back to form because we’re eternal optimists.

Meanwhile, do yourself a favour and go play Halloween Jack at Guts Casino. One of the best gambling sites around, they know how to keep players happy and have one of the best selection of online slot games around.
